In doing this I feel I am progressing in my career, keeping myself desirable to other employers and maximising my potential to do well within my career. Practitioners must demonstrate reliability and accountability by respecting the choices and freedoms of other people.
As a senior team leader it is even more vital that I am aware and up to date with the above, as part of my role is to guide, support and influence other staff to do well in their own roles.
The personal development plan should be regularly evaluated, actions agreed and changes made if required. For nurses this would mean looking at how they performed a particular task taking into consideration their interaction with their colleagues and other members of staff, patients and in some cases relatives This then enables the nurse to assess their actions and thought processes.
It will eventually lead to an increase in accountability and motivation in the workplace and improve recruitment and retention of current members of staff.
Continually improving my knowledge is essential to my role and ensures that I have the skills and knowledge needed to create the best provision for the service users in my home.
